The Ventura County Coastal Association of REALTORS® (“VCCAR”) is seeking an experienced, collaborative leader as Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of its 1,900-member Association, taking VCCAR to the next level of member success. VCCAR’s next CEO will be a strategic and visionary thinker; passionate for making a positive impact, a strong communicator, an expert in the art of interpersonal skills, and has a proven track record of effectively managing teams and executing projects. The position will be in person/on site at VCCAR’s office in Oxnard, California.

General Responsibilities:
Work with the Board of Directors to determine values and mission, and plan for short‐ and long‐ term goals.
Lead, in conjunction with the Board of Directors, the development of the Association’s strategy.
Lead and oversee the implementation of the Association’s long‐ and short‐term plans in accordance with its strategy.
Establishes a positive working relationship and communications of mutual respect and ensures that association and membership positions are enhanced in accordance with the policies and objective of the association with all Association stakeholders.
Ensure that the Association has appropriate systems to enable it to conduct its activities both lawfully and ethically.
Develop and implement operational policies in accordance with the strategic plan.
Identify and address problems and opportunities for the Association.
Implement policies adopted by VCCAR Board of Directors and ensure Bylaws are enforced.
Oversee all activities of VCCAR, including staff and member activities on behalf of the Association.
Carry out decisions of the VCCAR Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Submit VCCAR Annual Report to the appropriate State Agency.
Assist VCCAR President and Board of Directors with developing appropriate policies and programs and maintaining excellent relationships with other organizations.
Identify and develop new VCCAR leadership.
Assess the principal risks of the Association and ensure that these risks are being monitored and managed.
Ensure effective internal controls and management information systems are in place.
Assure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
Ensure that all VCCAR documents are in compliance with errors & omissions insurance.
Draft and recommend to the Board of Directors organizational policies and philosophies that will safeguard the Association.
Oversee development of new sources of non‐dues revenue, member services, and benefits.
Oversee and effectively manage Association’s real estate assets and will work with vendors, contractors, and Association members to maintain property standards, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and policies.
Administer VCCAR’s insurance, including locating and recommending to the Board of Directors, and obtaining legally mandated and NAR‐recommended insurance policies, including liability, workmen’s comp, E&O, etc.
Oversee VCCAR travel to regional, state, and national REALTOR® functions as approved by the Board of Directors (and/or accompany officers to these functions), including scheduling, registration, and reimbursement of expenses.
Staff VCCAR Committees and Task Forces as needed.
Finance:
Ensure that expenditures of the Association are within the authorized annual budget of the Association.
Oversee the Association’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
Maintain an automated financial management system.
Manage the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Budget Analysis and Cash Reports with the Finance Committee and report the results to the Board of Directors.
Implement VCCAR Fiscal Policy and financial actions of the Board of Directors.
Draft annual budget and budget revisions for the Finance Committee.
Work with Finance Committee to obtain Board of Directors approval for annual budget.
Adhere to annual budget as approved.
Alert Treasurer & President to any budgetary constraints or potential problems.
Serve as sole authority on staff for all expenditures (sign off on all check requests, petty cash disbursements, travel requests in advance of travel, etc.).
Review monthly financial statements and spot‐check on financial detail in computer system.
Open all mail from banks/financial institutions, including bank statements, cancelled checks, etc., and double check payees on all checks.
Review and sign off on bank statement reconciliation reports.
Open all Payroll service correspondence and review amounts paid to staff for each pay period before turning over the information to the Bookkeeper.
Serve as chief liaison to Payroll Service.
Review check log periodically and spot check against deposits.
Staffing:
Is solely responsible for the hiring, firing, supervision, and professional development (including individual goals and annual review) and provides direction and support in the fulfillment of Association staff responsibilities.
Create a team environment that promotes great performance, collaboration, and positive morale.
Provide and oversee up‐to‐date personnel policies in accordance with California law.
Maintain a staff environment that meets the needs of the overall business plan of the Association.
Hold/chair regular staff meetings.
Recommend staff salary increases and benefit levels to Board of Directors.
Produce performance reviews as stipulated in the Personnel Manual.
Determine salary increases/promotions as warranted.
Report on personnel matters to the Executive Committee and/or Board of Directors as Warranted.
Oversee record‐keeping system for payroll, including weekly timesheets, tracking vacation and sick days, etc.
Public Awareness:
Maintain and enhance VCCAR’s public image including:
Oversee production/distribution of effective internal and external communications, including press releases.
Take advantage of other communication opportunities as appropriate.
Serve as VCCAR representative to other professional associations, civic, and community groups, and local/regional government officials as needed.
Report to the VCCAR President and Board of Directors on the Association’s successes and problems, progress and impediments to reaching established goals, and opportunities and threats facing the organization.
Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.
Engage with community groups.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, with a proven track record of managing teams and executing projects in REALTOR® Association(s), Multiple Listing Services and/or the Real Estate Industry.
Designations such as the RCE and/or CAE designations are desired.
You shall reside close enough to be on site/in person at the VCCAR office in Oxnard, California to carry out the duties of the organization. Relocation assistance potentially available.
Compensation:
Base Salary of $200,000 to $225,000
